Pallet Rack & Warehouse Storage in Dilley, TX
Dilley sits on I-35 and the Union Pacific line between Laredo and San Antonio. Its rail-transload and energy-yard setting calls for storage that distinguishes bulk terminal activity, long material and forklift-handled supplies.
We plan cantilever rack for pipe and steel and heavy-duty pallet rack for suitable loaded units. Receiving, shop access and laydown movements belong in the drawing alongside the storage faces. A position count alone cannot show whether the operation can work around the rack.
Business 35 shop buildings and laydown paths
Industrial sites on Business 35 include ladder track, laydown yards and shop buildings used by energy-service companies. For a shop connected to a yard, explain which materials move inside and which remain at a separate support face. The storage specification follows those tasks rather than the property description.
Keep a defined route from unloading to the destination position. Short-term receipt should not take over the approach used to select pipe or retrieve a parts pallet. We check the turning movement with the actual truck and load instead of assigning equal aisle widths to every area.
Transload capacity is not rack capacity
A Union Pacific-served rail transload terminal occupies about 220 acres, with a unit-train loop offering more than 7,800 feet of usable track. Four silos provide about 20,000 tons of capacity. These facts describe the rail operation, not the load rating of a storage bay.
Identify the supplies handled as complete pallets or bundles before estimating storage. Packaging, total weight and retrieval unit must be stated. Material that arrives through a rail connection may still need sorting or staging before it belongs in an assigned rack position.
Support steel and pipe by their actual length
Cantilever arm spacing is selected from the material’s support requirement. Give us the minimum and maximum lengths, bundle weight and lifting method. Arm loads and the full column arrangement need review together, especially when dissimilar groups occupy separate levels.
The longest carried load defines the approach to the rack face and the turn at the end of a row. Shorter stock should remain identifiable rather than disappear behind full bundles. We consider how a particular group leaves the yard, not just how much steel can stand in one row.
Selective storage for palletized energy supplies
Direct-access pallet bays can serve varied parts or supplies that must be selected independently. The heaviest pallet, its footprint and the loaded height establish the proposed beam and frame arrangement. Forklift reach determines whether the planned levels can be serviced.
Installation or relocation needs a separate component unloading area and a sequence for the destination storage groups. A different building entry can change row orientation even if the stock remains the same. We discuss available work zones and temporary inventory placement so the new arrangement follows shop and yard movement rather than interrupting it by default.
Each load group should retain its identity as it moves from receipt to a storage position. That connection makes the rail handoff and later shop retrieval easier to plan without treating all incoming supplies alike.

Warehouse Racking Questions
What should a Dilley rail-served yard send for a rack plan?
Separate pallet loads, long bundles and bulk terminal handling. Provide dimensions, weights, handling equipment and the route from receipt to storage. That establishes the storage task without confusing silo or track capacity with the requirements of a rack bay.
Can Business 35 shop inventory use selective pallet rack?
Yes, where the supplies are handled as loaded pallets needing individual access. Smaller containers may need shelving. Beam elevations and aisle widths are selected from the forklift and pallet profile rather than from the shop’s exterior dimensions.
How do you preserve access to pipe during an installation?
Agree on the work zone, component staging and the stock that can be moved. The long-load approach needs to remain a defined route. We review the sequence with the yard’s handling activity instead of assuming the entire storage face can be closed at once.
